PhD Theses on the Isle of Man

We lack any number of bibliographic tools and resources for the Island and a listing of both MA dissertations and PhD theses especially is needed. If no publications ever arise from PhDs they are the hardest resource to track down. I intend to use this thread to gather together what I have in my notes or have come across. If you have a ref. please leave it in a reply and I will cut ‘n paste it into place.

The listing here will be by name; I am not going to attempt a subject index as well.

Lots of other ones on local natural history, geology and archaeology which I’ll add at a later date. Am sure there must be material from universities in North America, but it’s much more difficult to track it down. Many of these are available through Ethos (http://ethos.bl.uk/Home.do) and once you have registered you can download for free (as long as it has already been digitised), otherwise there is charge for digitisation although not download.

  3. Thanks for these Ray, when I have time I will cut ‘n paste them into place. I am certain there are many others in the fields you mentioned especially of natural history coming from the former Marine Biological Station. We can think in the future of running separate threads for defined topics such as archaeology and so on.
